Germany's Mats Hummels doesn't believe injury will end his World Cup

Germany opened up its 2014 World Cup campaign with a dominating 4-0 victory over Portugal, but there was an injury to starting defender Mats Hummels that put a damper on the celebration for Joachim Low's side.

Hummels suffered a thigh injury and will need to undergo further testing, but the Borussia Dortmund standout is confident that his World Cup is not in jeopardy. 

"The injury doesn't feel like something which would end my World Cup," Hummels told Sport1 television. "Maybe it will cost me one game, or maybe none at all. It looked worse than it is. I do have my thigh heavily wrapped, but it's going to be fine. It could have been worse."

Low confirmed that the injury is not believed to be serious. 

"He's just taken a knock to the thigh," Low said. "I don't expect it to be anything dramatic."

Hummels scored Germany's second goal against Portugal, with the other three goals coming from a hat trick performance by Thomas Muller. 

Germany will resume Group G play on Saturday at Estádio Castelão in Fortaleza against Ghana.
