Liverpool vs. Southampton

The 2014-15 Barclays Premier League season begins this weekend, with Liverpool playing host to Southampton in one of the opening weekend matches. 

For Liverpool, life without Luis Suarez begins, as the Uruguayan has departed for Barcelona. But Liverpool brought in several players who could become significant contributors, including a trio of ex-Southampton footballers: Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren. The club also lost goalkeeper Pepe Reina to Bayern Munich.

Southampton, meanwhile, lost most of the core group of players that saw Saints finish eighth in the Premier League last season. Besides the three players that left for Liverpool, Southampton also sold young defenders Calum Chambers and Luke Shaw to Arsenal and Manchester United, respectively.
