In a shocking upset, unseeded qualifier Jana Cepelova beat Garbine Muguruza in straight sets at Wimbledon on Thursday, knocking out the world No. 2 in the second round of the tournament.

Muguruza was widely expected to contend for her first Wimbledon title at this year’s tournament following her recent French Open title, where she beat Serena Williams in the final. But Cepelova earned a 6–3, 6–2 victory over the Spaniard to send Muguruza to her earliest exit at a Grand Slam this year.

Cepelova’s victory marks her third win over a top five opponent in her career. The Slovakian will play No. 28 seed Lucie Safarova in the third round.

Cepelova, 23, is now set to make her second–ever appearance in the third round at a Slam. Before this tournament, she hadn’t qualified for the main draw at a major since Wimbledon last year.

Muguruza was the runner–up at Wimbledon last year, falling to Serena Williams in the final.
