Stephen A. Smith Drops a Passionate Take About Megan Thee Stallion
1. In a week when it seems like all hell has broken loose when it comes to covering sports, we’d like to thank Stephen A. Smith for providing us with the levity we so desperately needed.
On the latest edition of his Know Mercy podcast, the performance artist extraordinaire gave us quite a segment breaking down the first pitch that singer Megan Thee Stallion threw out at last Thursday’s Astros opener.
“I mean, that white outfit she was wearing was pretty nice,” said Smith. “She looked pretty nice in that.”
Smith then went on to critique Megan’s pitch before going into a hilarious knight-in-shining-armour routine.
“The one thing I walked away from, and I forgot the guy’s name, but he had his hand on her backside,” said an incredulous Smith. “Yes, he did. Yes, he did. He did it quick, but he ain’t supposed to be touching her like that. He ain’t supposed to be touching her like that. If I was her man I’d have a problem with that. I’ll tell you that right now; I’m just saying. I understand, but that was naughty. He shouldn’t have done that. Keep your hands above the waist, around the middle of the back or the upper back. I think that’s safe. The lower you go, the lower you seem.”
I believe the player Smith is referring is Astros first baseman David Hensley, who did get his glove/wrist below the waist for a split second while hugging Megan after her first pitch, although Smith's use of the word "naughty" to describe Hensley's move does seem like a bit of a stretch. But that's why Smith is so good at this stuff.

3. The funny thing about Jim Nantz signing off from the NCAA tournament for the final time Monday night after calling games for 37 years is he’ll be back Thursday to give us four straight days of Masters coverage (plus, he remains CBS’s lead NFL play-by-play caller). Here was Nantz’s sign-off after UConn beat San Diego State.
4. Remember the Dodgers fan from last week who thought it would be a good idea to run on the field to propose to his girlfriend, but instead got destroyed by a security guard?
Well, he got so messed up from the tackle that he's missed four days of work and he's been banned from Dodgers Stadium for the rest of the season. Oh, and his girlfriend almost missed the proposal.
5. Last week we told you the Angels weren’t sending their broadcasters on road trips. Now we have the team firing reporter Sam Blum from a radio show because, according to Blum, he’s too negative. What a bush-league organization.
