The Chinese basketball Association initially scheduled to resume play for players and coaches this week, but with the confusion and uncertainty caused by the coronavirus, the suspended season has been extended to at least July according to ESPN. It is still undecided as to whether or not a CBA season will occur at all this season. In a result to relieve financial pressure, Chinese media outlets and executives have elected to take pay cuts. According to ESPN, more than a dozen American CBA players have been impacted. Some have decided to remain in China as long as they are still receiving salaries, while others have returned back to the states in hopes of returning to China if the season does resume. The CBA joins the NBA and other major sports organizations who have stopped play due to COVID-19.
