After a bye week, Indiana travels to Bowling Green for a road game against the Falcons. The Hoosiers are coming off a 28-10 win over FCS opponent Indiana State in their opener, while the Falcons are coming off a 48-7 win over FCS foe VMI to get to 1-1. Indiana won their only previous meeting against Bowling Green, a 42-10 win in Bloomington.

This is the first trip by a Big Ten opponent to Bowling Green since Minnesota visited in 2008. 

The Falcons won their sixth straight home opener with their win over VMI.

Bowling Green is looking for its first win over a Big Ten opponent since beating Minnesota in overtime in 2007.

The Falcons last win over a Power Five conference opponent came in 2008, when they won at Pittsburgh.

Quarterback James Knapke made his first collegiate start against VMI following a season-ending injury to Matt Johnson. He was 22-for-31 for 237 yards and a touchdown.

Indiana ran for 455 yards against Indiana State, its most since 1999.

Combined with a 401-yard rushing performance against Purdue in last season’s finale, the Hoosiers have back-to-back 400-yard games on the ground for just the third time in school history.

Indiana’s quick-strike offense had seven touchdown drives of less than 30 seconds last season and averaged running a play every 20.03 seconds, the fifth-fastest pace in the nation.

The Hoosiers gave up 170 total yards to Indiana State, their lowest total allowed since giving up 149 to Murray State in 2008.

Tevin Coleman’s 247 rushing yards against Indiana State were the fifth-most in a single game in school history.
