UTEP Miners vs. Kansas State Wildcats

Kansas State (2-1) will be looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it hosts UTEP on Saturday. The Miners (2-1) come in off a bye week after beating New Mexico State 42-24 two weeks ago. The teams are tied all-time 1-1, with Kansas State winning the most recent meeting 40-7 in 1999.

Week 4: Auburn 20, Kansas State 14

No. 5 Auburn was the highest-ranked non-conference opponent Kansas State had hosted since No. 2 Penn State in 1969. The Wildcats were 2-for-5 in the red zone after converting their first 12 opportunities through their first two games. The 14 points scored by K-State snapped a string of nine straight games with at least 30 points.

Week 2: Kansas State 32, Iowa State 28

Kansas State won its seventh in a row over Iowa State in their Big 12 opener, with the Wildcats shutting out the Cyclones in the second half. K-State has won five of its last six conference openers.

Week 1: Kansas State 55, Stephen F. Austin 16

Quarterback Jake Waters accounted for four touchdowns, two through the air and two on the ground. Kansas State won its 40th game in a row when leading at halftime. Since 1990, the Wildcats are 166-5 when holding a halftime lead.

Week 3: UTEP 42, New Mexico State 24

The Miners beat their I-10 rivals for the sixth straight time. UTEP’s 344 rushing yards were their most against an FBS opponent since 1993. Aaron Jones rushed for 168 yards, becoming the first Miner since Toraino Singleton in 1994 to eclipse the century mark in each of the first three games of a season.

Week 2: Texas Tech 30, UTEP 26

Texas Tech won it on a touchdown with 2:32 to go in the game. UTEP held an opponent scoreless in the first quarter for the first time since 2012. The Miners are turnover-free through two games for the first time in the modern era (since 1965).

Week 1: UTEP 31, New Mexico 24

Aaron Jones gave the Miners the win with a three-yard touchdown run with 2:18 to go. Jones ran for a career-high 237 yards and scored three touchdowns. It was UTEP’s first back-to-back wins in Albuquerque since 1967 and 1969.
