South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier apologizes for quick press conference
South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier apologized for not taking questions from reporters after South Carolina’s 45-42 overtime loss to Tennessee on Nov. 1, the Associated Press reports.
Spurrier said during his Sunday teleconference that he should have stayed and “faced the music. He was at the microphone for less than a minute following the Tennessee game, a game in which the Gamecocks blew a 14-point lead in the last five minutes.
According to the Associated Press, the Football Writers Association of America complained to the Southeastern Conference and the school last week, saying that Spurrier's quick postgame press conference was unacceptable.

"I came in there and made a quick statement, and hit the road, and I should've stayed there and took a few questions and faced the music, so I apologize for that. I'll try not to let that happen again," Spurrier said, according to WLTX.com.
South Carolina has lost two games in a row and will need to win two or their final three games to become bowl eligible.
The Gamecocks (4-5, 2-5 SEC) did not play last week and face Florida (5-3, 4-3 SEC) on Saturday.
