College football odds: Oklahoma a sizable home favorite vs. Texas Tech

Oklahoma is seemingly back on track after blowing out Kansas State last weekend. While huge games against TCU and Baylor loom down the road, the Sooners can’t afford to drop their Week 8 contest against Texas Tech.

Oklahoma is 8–1 straight up and 6–3 against the spread in its last nine home games against Texas Tech. The Sooners will try to keep their playoff hopes alive this Saturday with a win against the Red Raiders.

Playing at home, Oklahoma is a 14.5-point favorite according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Sooners are 2–2 SU and 13 ATS in their last four games as a favorite of 14 points or more.

After suffering a 24–17 loss to Texas on Oct. 10 as a 16.5-point favorite, Bob Stoops’s team was written off by many fans and bettors. But the Sooners may have put themselves back on the map last week with a 55–0 road win over Kansas State.

Oklahoma completely dominated every facet of the game and looked like a team that could compete with any in the country.

The Sooners will have the chance to make a statement later in the season when they take on TCU and Baylor. But first they have to deal with Texas Tech this week, and they enter this game with just a 3–8 ATS record in their last eight October games per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Texas Tech did not look sharp in a 30–20 win over Kansas last week, failing to cover the spread as a 33-point road favorite. The Red Raiders were probably caught looking ahead to this game as the offense had a rare off day, entering that contest with a scoring clip of 52.7 points per game.

The only two blemishes on Texas Tech’s 5–2 SU and 4–3 ATS record have come in losses to Baylor and TCU, two of the best teams in the nation, and TCU needed a fourth-down miracle to beat the Red Raiders in the closing moments of the game.

The total for Saturday’s game is currently set at 74.5 points. The OVER is 4–0 in the last four meetings between these two rivals. Saturday afternoon’s contest could continue that trend of high-scoring affairs with two of the nation’s top 15 offensive attacks taking the field.
