College football Week 9 odds: Betting odds for most notable matchups
With the top two college football teams in the country on byes, the third-ranked Clemson Tigers (7–0) will take center stage in Week 9 as they visit the North Carolina State Wolfpack (5–2) in a key ACC matchup.
The Tigers have won 10 of their last 11 meetings with the Wolfpack, but they are just 5–6 against the spread in those games, including 1–4 in the past five, according to the OddsShark College Football Database.
North Carolina State is off to a 1–2 start in ACC play yet has covered eight of 10 conference games dating back to last season. The Wolfpack are coming off a 35–17 rout of Wake Forest last Saturday as an 8.5-point road favorite.

Meanwhile, Clemson just crushed Miami 58–0 last week on the road as eight-point chalk, leading to the firing of Miami head coach Al Golden. The Tigers are 2–2 ATS so far in conference games and 4–3 versus the line overall.
The lone game between two top-25 teams in Week 9 pits the ninth-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6–1) against the surprisingly unbeaten Temple Owls (7–0). The 21st-ranked Owls had never started a season 7–0 but topped East Carolina 24–14 last Thursday on the road as 2.5-point underdogs to stay perfect.
Temple is 5–2 ATS this year and will host a Notre Dame team that is 6–1 ATS as a 10-point home underdog at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Irish have covered five straight games since losing starting quarterback Malik Zaire for the season due to an ankle injury he suffered against Virginia.

The only other top-five team in action this week is fourth-ranked TCU (7–0), which will take on West Virginia (3–3) as 14-point home favorites in a key Big 12 battle on Thursday night. The Horned Frogs are 14–6 ATS in their last 20 games and have covered 10 of their past 11 at home as well.
The Mountaineers are riding a three-game losing streak both SU and ATS, with all of their losses coming against conference opponents. They are just 2–4 ATS this season overall and are coming off a bye following a 62–38 road loss to second-ranked Baylor as 20.5-point underdogs on Oct. 17.
