UC Named a Top-50 Team by Sports Illustrated in Preseason Rankings

Cincinnati has the schedule to make plenty of noise over the next month.

CINCINNATI — The 2022-23 college basketball season is here, and Sports Illustrated has the Bearcats slotted 50th nationally in their 1-353 rankings.

Just like the AAC preseason poll, and KenPom, UC is third in the SI projection behind the Memphis Tigers and the Houston Cougars. It will be shocking if any team besides Houston finishes first in the AAC.

Cincinnati has the ingredients to get the silver medal this season and return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019. The Maui Invitational will play a big role in the latter.

Arkansas (No. 7), Creighton (No. 8), San Diego State (No. 14), Arizona, (No. 16), Texas Tech (No. 17), and Ohio State (No. 32) are all ranked higher on SI than UC.

Lousiville (No. 76) is the only team in the field rated worse than UC.
