Nine UC Stars Selected in Latest Seven-Round Mock Draft

Nine selections would blow the program record for a single NFL Draft out of the water.

CINCINNATI — Another major seven-round mock draft just released this week from The Athletic's Dane Brugler and the draft maven has nine Bearcats getting picked starting with Ahmad Gardner at No. 7 to the New York Giants.

"If the Giants are unable to trade back and add draft assets for next year, a plug-and-play blocker at No. 5 and shut down corner at No. 7 feels like the ideal scenario for Schoen and the Giants," Brugler wrote. "Gardner has the length, speed, and confidence that should translate well to the pro game."

Gardner is the consensus top cornerback in the draft and the fifth-best player overall. He is being mocked most often by the New York Jets at No. 4 over the past month (24% of mocks).

Cincinnati landed a second first-round pick with Desmond Ridder heading to the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 20.

"The Steelers have spent a lot of time and resources evaluating this year’s crop of quarterbacks," Brugler said. "And they won’t be shy trading up to get 'their guy' if they need to. But 'their guy' might be Ridder, who impressed the Steelers’ key decision-makers, including ownership, during pre-draft meetings."

Ridder is the consensus 37th best player in the class and the fourth-best quarterback.

Alec Pierce is continuing a recent trend of being the third Bearcat drafted by going off the board at No. 78 to the Cleveland Browns. The stellar athlete is the consensus 75th-best player available and the 14th-ranked wide receiver.

Coby Bryant followed him quickly—going to the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 86. The 2021 Jim Thorpe Award winner is the consensus 91st-ranked player in the class and the 10th-best cornerback.

Bryan Cook was the third Bearcat selected in the third round. He stayed in Cincinnati with the Bengals at No. 95. Cook is the consensus 104th-ranked player and the seventh-best safety.

Myjai Sanders rounds out the Bearcats' third-round picks by going to Baltimore at No. 100. Sanders is the consensus 80th-ranked overall player and the 13th-best edge defender.

Darrian Beavers heard his name called next in the fourth round by the Miami Dolphins at No. 125. Beavers is the consensus 107th-ranked player in the class and the 11th-best off-ball linebacker.

Jerome Ford went off the board to the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round at No. 187. Ford is the consensus 132nd-ranked player in the draft and the 11th-best running back.

The Bearcats' selections round out with a first-time appearance on any major mock draft from Curtis Brooks. The Kansas City Chiefs took him in the seventh round with the 233rd pick. Brooks is the consensus 437th-ranked player and the 37th-ranked defensive lineman.
