The Athletic's Bruce Feldman, Stewart Mandel Go Against UC in Weekly Betting Spread Picks

CINCINNATI — UC lost a lot of talent this offseason and it has two experts from The Athletic picking against them when they play Arkansas on Saturday. Bruce Feldman is buying all of the KJ Jefferson stock and selling Cincinnati to cover the 6.5-point spread.

"KJ Jefferson is a big problem for defenses and he will be for the Bearcats. The athleticism that the Hogs have added on defense will make Barry Odom’s group that much better in 2022," Feldman wrote.

Feldman has Arkansas winning 24-14, while Mandel has the Razorbacks on top 31-20.

"I hate to go right back to doubting Cincinnati so soon after its Playoff run, but man," Mandel wrote. "No Desmond Ridder, no Sauce Gardner, no Myjai Sanders, and six other 2022 draft picks. Whereas Arkansas still has standout QB KJ Jefferson, not to mention renowned defensive coordinator Barry Odom. Hard to pick the Bearcats in Fayetteville."

History says these picks are on shaky ground, Luke Fickell is 4-1 against the spread at UC in regular-season Power Five games. He has won three of those games outright.
