Bearcats to Honor Herb Jones in Crosstown Shootout

The forward started for Cincinnati from 1990-92.

CINCINNATI — The 2021 Crosstown Shootout feels more somber this year following Herb Jones' death last week. Cincinnati announced it's honoring the former Bearcats forward with a jersey patch.

Jones was a standout in the early-90s as a driving force for the 1992 squad's trip to the Final Four, scoring 18.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.

The UC Athletics Hall of Famer passed away earlier this week after a bout with liver and lung cancer. He remains the only Bearcat to cross the 1,000-point milestone in two seasons.

Cincinnati takes on Xavier in the 89th Crosstown Shootout, Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1.
