Cincinnati, Xavier Players Team up for Community Events, Announce Alumni Game

CINCINNATI — Xavier, and Cincinnati have one of the most heated rivalries in college sports, but that didn't stop a few players from setting aside their differences on the court to help the community off of it.
On Thursday, Cincinnati's players David Dejulius and Jeremiah Davenport announced they are teaming up with Xavier's Zach Freemantle and Paul Scruggs to put together three events that will benefit the city's youth community and allow them to formally interact with fans.
The events involve youth basketball camps, a VIP student-athlete experience next year, and a UC-XU alumni game at an undetermined date.
"This is a big opportunity," Davenport said at a press conference on Thursday. "I'm just grateful to be in this position to help kids get better, help the youth, you know, just giving back."
The players are teaming up with ProCampsU on the project which said in a press release that local charities would receive a portion of the proceeds.
"I was a youth once, and like Jeremiah said, growing up, I always looked up to the older guys," Scruggs said about the project. "So just giving back to the youth and knowing what that feeling is, is wonderful."
The opening event takes place on Sunday. Non-profit youth camps will be learning from players on both teams at their respective arenas.
