UC Dominates All-AAC Selections

Cincinnati broke the program record for All-AAC First Team selections.

CINCINNATI — The AAC All-Conference team might as well be the All-Cincinnati team. UC placed a program-record 12 names on the 2021 All-Conference First Team, with one second-team selection and three honorable mentions. The program blew away their previous record for First Team selections (eight in 2020).

The Bearcats secured 5-of-12 first-team spots on offense. Quarterback Desmond Ridder made the cut, along with junior tackle Dylan O'Quinn, junior guard Lorenz Metz, sophomore center Jake Renfro, and junior running back Jerome Ford. Cincinnati finished fourth nationally in offensive EPA/game (13.34).

Alec Pierce captured All-AAC Second-Team honors after leading the team in catches (48) and receiving touchdowns (7) during the regular season. Junior tight end Josh Whyle was an honorable mention after finishing second on the team in receiving touchdowns (6).

On the defensive side of the ball, Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner and Myjai Sanders led the group as unanimous All-AAC First-Team selections. Senior cornerback Coby Bryant, senior defensive tackle Curtis Brooks, senior linebacker Joel Dublanko, senior linebacker Darrian Beavers, and senior safety Bryan Cook rounded out the first-team selections.

Sophomore linebacker Deshawn Pace and senior defensive tackle Marcus Brown both collected honorable mentions in the awards process.

The AAC all-star team residing in the 513 is pushing all the chips in this Saturday. They battle No. 21 Houston in the AAC Championship game at 4 p.m. ET.
