Denzel Ward said at his press conference on Wednesday morning that Travis Hunter had contacted him. Ward went on to talk about the possibility of Hunter playing both offense and defense like he did in college.

“Exceptional player. You’ve seen him on the field, he’s able to do it in college so I would be excited to see him do it in the NFL as well,” Ward said. “You got to be open to seeing different things, and that would be different. It just takes one person to do it at an extremely high level…I’m rooting for him.”

Denzel Ward was selected No. 4 overall by the Browns in the 2018 NFL Draft. Ward has been one of the best defensive players in the league and has made four Pro Bowls. In his seven seasons with the Browns, he has 322 total tackles, 95 passes defended, 17 interceptions, four forced fumbles, and four defensive touchdowns.

Signs are pointing toward Travis Hunter being picked No. 2 by the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Hunter is the overwhelming favorite to go to Cleveland with odds of -1350.

The team with the No. 1 pick is the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have their sets set on Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward. Ward has odds of -50000 to be selected by the Titans.

Momentum for Hunter to the Browns has been gaining stream and it now appears that will be his destiantion. Cleveland is coming off of a disappointing 3-14 season and desperately needs something to get excited about. The possibility of having Hunter and him playing both offense and defense at a high level would do exactly that.

Travis Hunter won the 2024 Heisman trophy for his electrifying season at wide receiver and cornerback. At wideout, Hunter hauled in 96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. On the other side of the ball at cornerback, Hunter had 36 total tackles, 11 passes defended, four interceptions, and one forced fumble.

In addition to winning Heisman, Hunter won the Chuck Bednarik Award for College defensive player of the year and the Fred Biletnikoff Award for being the best wide receiver in the country.
