Notre Dame Recruiting Roundup - August 14th

In this story:
We are less than two weeks until the Notre Dame 2023 season officially kicks off against Navy in Dublin, Ireland. That also means that the high school season is also about to kick off, bringing a lot of news in effect.
From campus visitors, updates, new offers and latest intel, the recruiting world never sleeps. Here is all the recent news that you need to know surrounding Notre Dame recruiting.
LATEST RECRUITING NEWS
Here is the latest news surrounding Notre Dame recruiting.
There were several key Irish targets who solidified campus visits for this upcoming season. One of the more interesting players is Murrieta (Calif.) Valley star Bear Bachmeier, who is one of the more talented quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting class. Having recently been offered by the Irish, momentum has quickly been building with Bachmeier. The California native will be making the trip to campus during the team’s matchup against Central Michigan.
The wide receiver board in 2025 is especially deep and talented. Arguably the most nuanced player on the board is Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame prep record setting pass catcher Cooper Perry, who has a deep love for Notre Dame passed on by his family. He will be visiting for the team’s matchup against Ohio State.
2025 Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s defender Anthony Sacca is another player who has some personal ties to the Irish program. Sacca will also be visiting during the Ohio State game. Having a great showing in that matchup could go a long way to selling the vision to the Philadelphia native.
The lone new offer this week was extended to Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central pass rusher Damien Shanklin, an in-state standout in the 2025 recruiting class. Shanklin has a deep understanding for what Notre Dame can bring to the table. He went in depth on what this recent offer meant to him.
RECRUITING UPDATES
Here are the latest recruiting updates to know for Notre Dame.
A player that isn’t often talked about is 2025 Wautoma (Wis.) High School offensive tackle Michael Roeske. The Wisconsin native is extremely high on Notre Dame early on. They have impressed the talented offensive tackle.
Speaking of talented offensive tackles, there may not be one with a higher upside than 2025 Milford (Conn.) Brunswick School offensive tackle Matty Augustine. After speaking with Brunswick Head Coach Wayne McGillicuddy, the upside may be even a little understated. Augustine is a very appealing developmental player in the 2025 class.
During an interview with 2025 Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman wide receiver Derek Meadows, the talented pass catcher gave some insight into what his off-season has looked like so far. Meadows is expected to have a breakout campaign, partly due to his raw talent and his tireless efforts there past few months.
SEASON PREVIEWS
Here are 2023 season previews for various Notre Dame commits and key targets.
2024 defensive end commit Loghan Thomas made the move to Ohio this off-season, where his family is originally from. Thomas will now be suiting up for powerhouse Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward this fall. The program is expecting big things from Thomas.
Over the last few months, 2024 Roswell (Ga.) High School offensive tackle Anthonie Knapp has been putting in work from a preparation perspective. The Roswell strength staff is excited to see what the Irish commit can accomplish as a senior.
In a new series, I examine the position groups of Notre Dame commits in the 2024 class, including what they excelled at as juniors and improvements they could make in their final seasons. In the first two adaptations, I did a deep dive into the offensive line and defensive backs.
