Notre Dame Recruiting Roundup - February 25th

Here is the latest news from this past week from Notre Dame football recruiting

Another week, another hectic few days for Notre Dame recruiting. During that time, the Irish program secured another commitment in the 2025 class, finalized several important campus visitors and even extended a couple new offers to the board.

Here is everything you may have missed over the last few days. As we move further into the offseason, including spring practice starting the end of next month, recruiting is only going to ramp up.

RECENT RECRUITING NEWS

The big news to start the week was Notre Dame getting a big commitment from 2025 Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School offensive lineman Matty Augustine. He chose the Irish over finalists Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin.

On film, it’s pretty easy to get excited about the 6-7, 290-pound offensive tackle. He brings a tremendous amount of physical gifts to the table, with plenty of developmental potential to tap into.

Heading into that commitment, Notre Dame was the heavy favorite for Augustine. A big reason for that was the relationships Augustine has developed with the staff and other offensive line commits in the class. Both offensive lineman Owen Strebig and Will Black are excited that Augustine is a part of the class, and are ready to get to work.

With the 2025 offensive group now most likely complete, we also have a big indicator for what Joe Rudolph is looking for at Notre Dame. He wants offensive tackle body types, with length and a mean demeanor. That’s his type.

Several 2025 recruits have been finalizing trips to Notre Dame. That includes Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy wide receiver Raiden Vines-Bright, who has an unofficial and official visit already solidified. The other is Frankfurt (Kent.) Western Hills defensive lineman Javeon Campbell, who has solidified an unofficial visit. He is already talking about setting up an official trip as well.

During spring practice, several 2025 and 2026 recruits will be checking out South Bend. One player worth keeping a close eye on is 2026 Leesburg (Va.) Loudoun County offensive lineman Carter Scruggs, who is one of the biggest risers at the position in the class.

RECRUIT INTERVIEWS

Under Marcus Freeman, linebacker recruiting has been about as good as smh school in the country. They are hoping to continue that in the future. Things continue to be trending in a great direction with Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley star defender Marco Jones, who is very high on the Irish.

They are also in a good spot with elite 2026 Orange (Calif.) Lutheran star linebacker Talanoa Ili. The 6-3, 200-pound defender listed the Irish among his top two schools currently.

Notre Dame is still pursuing several talented defensive linemen in the 2025 class. That includes Hillsdale (N.J.) High School pass rusher Darren Ikinnagbon, who is eyeing a visit to South Bend in the future.

Earlier this month, the final National Signing Day came and went. While Notre Dame didn’t have much action, talented 2024 preferred walk-on quarterback Anthony Rezac officially signed. The Irish staff has prioritized landing some big time preferred walk-on players and Rezac is just the latest example.
