Jamie Foxx will play Mike Tyson in an upcoming film

Wednesday July 30th, 2014

Jamie Foxx will star as Mike Tyson in an upcoming biopic about the heavyweight champ's life, according to Variety.

The untitled project has not yet been bought by a studio, but the script is being written by award-winning screenwriter Terence Winter. Winter wrote 25 episodes of The Sopranos, is the creator of HBO's Boardwalk Empire, and was nominated for an Academy Award for writing The Wolf of Wall Street.

Foxx will have to hit the gym to match Tyson's imposing physique. Tyson fought at 240 pounds; Foxx had to bulk up to 200 pounds for his role in Any Given Sunday.

Foxx has previous experience with boxing films, having played cornerman Drew Bundini Brown in Ali.

No word yet on whether Foxx will get a tattoo on his face.
