Wake Forest football coach to boycott 'Late Show' due to Colbert joke
Wake Forest football coach Dave Clawson plans to boycott Stephen Colbert's new 'Late Night' show for a year - and it's not because he has any David Letterman loyalties, either.
Clawson took offense to a dig Colbert took at the Wake Forest football team's lack of winning this past season during a commencement address at the school last month.
"I won’t be watching his show for at least a year," Clawson said on David Glenn's radio show.
"You invite someone like that, and I’m sure they paid him a fairly healthy sum to be our speaker, and it was not needed and not appreciated," Clawson said.
"While Wake has been a trail blazer, this has been a school that respects tradition, traditions like rolling the quad with toilet paper after big wins," Colbert said in his speech in May.

"And this is actually an eco-friendly tradition because, looking at this season's win-loss record, you guys saved a lot of paper."
Clawson added that it was up to him to reverse the football team's fortunes.
"Did I like that he said it? No, but he spoke the truth. We need to win more football games here, and I’m very confident that we’ll do it," Clawson said.
Colbert might have a point: In each of the past four seasons, Wake Forest football has won one less game each year than it won the season prior, and finished 3–9 in 2014.
