Donald Trump's best WWE moments

Trump isn't just the leader in the Republican primary. He's also a WWE Hall of Famer.

Real estate mogul Donald J. Trump is on the verge of capturing the Republican nomination for president of the United States. But while the controversial candidate would be one of the most unlikely nominees in history, he would also make history in another way: He's a member of the WWE Hall of Fame.

Trump is leading the Republican delegate count, and he has won more states than any of the other Republican contenders. But before he officially entered politics, Trump was a regular in the squared circle.

As Trump closes in on the Republican nomination, take a look back at Trump's WWE history.

Battle of the Billionaires

Trump’s longest run in the WWE was part of what the company billed as the “Battle of the Billionaires,” with the real estate magnate challenging WWE owner Vince McMahon to a match at Wrestlemania 23. Trump decided to raise the stakes and make the loser shave his head.

Donald chose Bobby Lashley, who now competes in Bellator MMA, as his fighter while McMahon picked Umaga for the fight at the WWE’s biggest event. Of course, the fight could not go down without some last second chicanery, with Stone Cold Steve Austin showing up to save the day for Trump.

Jesse Ventura & Donald Trump

At Wrestlemania XX, Trump was interviewed by Jesse Ventura, a former WWE star who turned big talk and a bigger personality into political success. Sound familiar?

Trump Buys Raw

In 2009, McMahon turned to his wealthy frenemy Donald Trump, who purchased the company’s flagship program Raw.

Of course the deal only lasted for a short time, with Trump turning 100% profit on the deal, one of the many genius business deals the author of TheArt of the Deal will happily tell you about.

Trump Showers Crowd with Money

Vince McMahon tried to curry favor by holding a fan appreciation night, but was upstaged when Trump showered the crowd with money. It might be a campaign violation, but this technique would definitely win some votes.

Trump Inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

For all his hard work for the WWE, Trump was inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame in 2013.  During the induction ceremony, he reminisced about his WWE accomplishments, including hosting Wrestlemania IV and V in Atlantic City.

The Republicans will officially nominate a general election candidate at the Republican National Convention in July, and as Trump would like you to know, he would be the first U.S. President to also be a member of the WWE Hall.

Will Trump be touting his connections to the WWE as he marches along the road to the White House? We will al just have to watch and see.
