Mark Teixeira returned from the disabled list last Friday and was off to a very slow start in his first three games: 1-for-9 in 10 plate appearances with seven strikeouts. On Monday night at Yankee Stadium, Teixeira finally made an impact for New York, lining a pitch from the Indians' Justin Masterson into the first row of seats for a grand slam.

Texgrab

As you can see, this wasn't exactly a bomb. In fact, it may not have made it into the seats at all if not for the Jeffrey Maier-like assistance of a young fan, who made a pretty nice grab by catching the ball in his hat. The YES Network announcers were surprised that Indians manager Terry Francona didn't elect to challenge the call. Perhaps Francona didn't want to push his luck with the replay system, having already gotten away with one earlier this year in the now-infamous Angel Hernandez Game.
