Conor McGregor rips Diaz brothers, tosses microphone into orbit

Featherweight champion Conor McGregor did not hold back his feelings about the Diaz brothers at the UFC 202 open workouts.

The tension between the Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz camps hasn’t subdued in the 24 hours since their press conference came to an abrupt end after water bottles went flying.

After a brief workout in front of fans and media at the Red Rock Resport Spa and Casino, McGregor fielded questions from the media and let his feelings be known.

“F--k the Diaz brothers. F--k those cockroaches,” McGregor shouted.

When asked about the water bottle incident, McGregor continued to play victim and reiterated how afraid he was in the moment.

"Like I said, I was in fear of my life yesterday," McGregor said. "Bottles were coming flying. I was ducking. It was just self-defense on my part. I don't know. I was afraid for my life.”

Video shows McGregor searching the stage frantically for any thing he could get his hands on to throw at Team Diaz and he does actually throw some cans and bottles.

As the media day came to a wrap, McGregor put a punch line on the event.

“F--k Team Diaz," McGregor said. "And if you're down with Team Diaz, f--k you too.”

McGregor then launched a microphone into orbit as he walked off stage.

McGregor and Diaz will step into the cage on Saturday night at UFC 202 to finally settle their differences. They will see each other face-to-face at the weigh-ins on Friday afternoon, and the UFC will probably be well prepared with security. The promotion has banned both fighters from bringing their large entourages with them. Both men could be facing fines and suspensions from the Nevada Athletic Commission for the incident.
