Let The Voting Begin

Tori Praver :: Walter Chin/SI

We're kicking off the 2008 Clicksy Awards today with a look back at the Bizarre Stories of the Year. For example, one of the categories we're asking you to vote on is "Most Bizarre Off-Field Story." The nominees are a) Jason Giambi admits to wearing lucky thong, b) Sean Avery does a summer internship at Vogue, c) Chad Johnson changes his name to "Ocho Cinco" and d) Green Bay station pulls Seinfeld because it's Eli Manning's favorite show. Here's what you need to know about the awards. 1) The nominees were determined a couple of weeks ago, and we were too lazy to go add in recent things, such as Avery's "sloppy seconds" remark, Fox showing us a naked Vikings player, Plaxico Burress shooting himself, etc. 2) We'll unveil a different category each day this week and leave the voting open until Monday. We'll present you with the winners some time next week. 3) Each nomination in the polls is linked, so if you're unfamiliar with a story, or just want to refresh your memory, you can click on a nominee and get the info. 4) We expect you to vote and we expect you to get every single person you know to vote. We want to make the November election look like child's play compared to the Clicksy Awards. Actually, forget the November election. Let's try to top something even more important -- American Idol. 5) Last but not least, we wanted to use a picture above of someone wearing a thong, to emphasize Giambi's nomination. Luckily, there are no pictures of him wearing the thong (actually, maybe there are, but they just haven't hit the 'net yet), but we did find this shot of SI Swimsuit model Tori Praver. We don't know if what she is wearing is technically a thong, but it's close enough. Plus, we don't care and we know you don't care, either. We were hesitant to give you this link to more Tori pictures because we know you're immediately going to check them out and may not vote, but we trust you to do both. Don't let us down.

Visanthe Shiancoe=AWESOME

THIS is how you handle something that isn't all that serious. After accidentaly being "exposed" in the locker room Sunday by Fox cameras, Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe was able to laugh about the incident, even saying "It's not too bad. I didn't just get out of the pool."

Turn Up Your Volume

Brady, of Madison, Wisc., found this great clip of CBS' Steve Taskerexplaining what happens when a punter pulls off a fake and starts running for a first down, after the Texans' Matt Turk did so on Sunday. Meanwhile, the World of Isaac found an unfortunate gaffe made by Tony Kornheiser last night, and Fan IQ thinks last night's game featured the catch of the year.

Keep The Volume Up

We always try to give any good college link to Campus Clicks and Mallory Rubin (who, by the way, is responsible for this new, fancy "Cheerleader of the Week" archive page). But sometimes, when we see something unbelievable, we get selfish and keep it for ourselves. This is one of those cases. We present to you, Tim Tebow Song. (Thanks to Jeff, of Jacksonville, Fla., for the link.)

Look-Alikes

Yesterday's Boris Becker-Danny Bonaducecomparison generated some interesting e-mail. Shan Bricker, of Kitchener, Ontario, asked if the Senators' Daniel Alfredsson was their long-lost cousin. Blake McClain, of Nashville, wanted us to know about the eerie similarities between Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford and HGTV host David Bromstad. And Ryan, of Columbus, Ohio, submits Kellen Winslow Jr. and Vin Diesel. For more look-alikes, check out Rumors & Rants feature on soccer players and their counterparts.

The Injury Of The Year

One of the categories in today's 2008 Clicksy Awards nominations is "Most Ridiculous Injury." After reading this story, we may change the name to "The Derrick Rose Award." After you read the story, you can hear Rose explain the incident here.

Hooray For Clay

It's amazing what one no-hitter can do you for you. Back in March, we told you Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz was dating a Penthouse Pet of the Year. Now, it appears that he's moved on toDeal or No Deal model, Lindsay Clubine.

Today's 2009 Calendar

Cowboys cheerleader swimsuit calendar

Several of you e-mailed yesterday asking what happened to the Calendar of the Day feature. We were up against a deadline and had to scrap it, but it's back today. The Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders have a 2009 calendar -- a 2009 swimsuit calendar. Photos from the calendar shoot for each of the cheerleaders can be found here, but we strongly suggest you just skip ahead to the pics ofAbigail. On a side note, a former Cowboys cheerleader won the latest installment of The Amazing Race. And With Leather has several pics of said winner.

Sports Video Of The Day

Ron C. of Seattle, sends us this clip of Steve Young getting pelted with a cup during last night's postgame show. As Ron pointed out in his e-mail, the death stare by Emmitt Smith afterward is pretty amusing.
