Report: Mariners extend King Felix
One of Jack Zduriencik's biggest goals this offseason was to lock up young pitching ace Felix Hernandez to a contract extension and the Seattle Mariners appear to have pulled that off Monday, according to an ESPN report. Though no contract terms were reported, ESPN analyst Keith Law says a source with direct knowledge of the talks tells him a multi-year deal is now in place, pending a physical by Hernandez. Lightning denies Lecavalier-to-Rangers rumors
The Vinny Lecavalier trade rumors seemingly never end, and the latest one fittingly included the Rangers, whom the Lightning plays tonight at Madison Square Garden. The Ottawa Sun reported Sunday that Rangers GM Glen Sather contacted Tampa Bay GM Brian Lawton in an effort to spark trade talks for Lecavalier. That report, according to Lawton, is "completely false." Lawton said Monday that he hasn't even spoken to Sather in weeks. "He hasn't contacted me to inquire about that," Lawton said.
