The Phillies have been slumping for a couple of weeks, but first baseman Ryan Howard -- if you believe the New York Post -- hasn't carried that poor momentum off the field. The paper reports that Howard is dating Victoria's Secret model, Selita Ebanks.

The Brevard County Manatees (the single-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers) will no longer hold "batting practice." As a way to show their anger at BP's role in the oil spill, the Manatees will take "hitting rehearsal' before games.

Down With BP

During yesterday's Mets game, third baseman David Wright tossed a ball to a 10-year-old boy. However, some guy intercepted the toss to give the ball to his kid. Of course, this didn't go over well with the New York crowd. However, that incident is nothing compared to this one, which took place in Philly on Sunday.

On Friday, I made a bet with co-worker Gennaro Filice that Nick Swisher would hit higher than .280. (Swisher was hitting .315 at the time but he's a .249 career batter.) I went on Twitter and told my followers about the wager and said I'd also give Swisher $20 if he acknowledged my Tweet. The man wants his money. Until I get a chance to pay up, this Swisher tribute will have to do.

Phil, of Birmingham, Ala., sent in the following video with this description: "A loss would eliminate Auburn, and send Clemson to the Super-Regional. Auburn's Crede Simpson was at the plate with Auburn down by one run in the top of the 9th inning; two on, two out, and two strikes on the batter (who was a late-inning replacement due to an injury)." What Phil left out was the that the clip also features a classic over-the-top call by the play-by-play man.
