Ochocinco 'rusty' in return

Though dependable, "like birth control," No. 85 didn't start out there in his return to practice. Chad Ochocinco caught a 55-yard pass from Carson Palmer in stride, then raised both arms toward a camera filming the Cincinnati Bengals minicamp from the back of the end zone. Always, he finds the camera. The Pro Bowl receiver took a break from dancing and dating to play some football on Tuesday. He looked rusty at times during his first practice of a mandatory, three-day minicamp -- his first workout with the team since a playoff loss to the Jets. He's getting back to the job that made him a star and gave him all those offseason opportunities in Hollywood. "He hasn't played football in a while," coach Marvin Lewis said. (NFL.com)Comment

Chipper to make announcement soon

With reports of retirement swirling about Chipper Jones, When might he officially address them? "At some point during the home stand," he said (and the Braves are home for only six days). Was an announcement just being held up by red tape issues? Jones smiled at the question. "I've got some things I've got to take care of," he said. He wasn't supposed to publicly address the issue at all. When news leaked earlier in the day, he even asked the Braves to put out a news release informing the media that Jones would not speak on the topic. But his media-friendly persona got the best of him. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)Comment

Wizards spurned for workouts

Washington may have the No. 1 pick in the draft, but the Wizards also have other selections, and they may be having a hard time auditioning talent. [With the Wizards] expected to take John Wall first overall since the night of the draft lottery, it has created problems for them with regards to scheduling workouts for other players. Wall will be the only player to audition for the top pick this Thursday, but I was informed by a league source that that wasn't necessarily the plan. According to the source, the Wizards made several inquiries with Evan Turner's agent, David Falk, but Falk was not receptive, convinced that the Wizards would take Wall. He has focused all of his attention on Philadelphia, which holds the second overall pick. Falk told me last week in Boston that he thought the 76ers were a better fit for Turner.
