Romo: Fix the run, fix the offense
Tony Romo said Thursday that the Cowboys struggles on offense are a direct result of the running game. "If you're not getting the production out of it, you're also banging your head against the wall to just keep doing it." ... Continuity was supposed to be a strength of this offense. That has not materialized in the first two games, in part, because the Cowboys have rushed for just 139 yards. A team that finished No. 7 in the NFL in rushing last season is now tied for No. 28. Most teams have made a pitch for Carmelo
Maybe it's no wonder why the Nuggets seem to be taking their time with Carmelo Anthony. Sixers president Rod Thorn, by NBA rule, cannot openly talk about trying to acquire a player from another team, but sources indicate that roughly 20 other teams have also called about Anthony. There is no reason to believe that the Sixers are in the running, assuming the Nuggets decide to make a trade. ... By all accounts, Anthony -- who can be a free agent after the season -- has given the Nuggets a list of four teams he would prefer to go to. Thome wants another year, or a ring
Jim Thome, the Twins' leading home run hitter, is planning to play baseball next season. "That's the plan, absolutely," he said. But what if the Twins were to win the World Series this year? Thome paused, smiled, then nodded. "There would be nothing better than going out with a ring, I think," said the designated hitter, who went to two World Series with the Cleveland Indians and lost both times. "That would be something very special. We'd have to sit down over the winter and really think it out. I don't know; we'll see what happens." (St. Paul Pioneer-Press)Comment
