Without the Vikings or Cowboys stealing headlines, the Redskins would challenge for the NFC team most resembling a soap opera -- especially after Mike Shanahan chose Rex Grossman over Donovan McNabb to run his two-minute drill. McNabb was so stiff in his hamstrings that Shanahan had seriously considered not starting him at all. In addition to being hobbled, McNabb was pounded senseless, absorbing seven sacks and at least a dozen more hits. ... Texas' season continues to slip away. After losing to Baylor 30-22, Texas is the leader in the clubhouse to become The Most Disappointing Team of 2010. Who's No. 1? Up for debate. ... The 'Horns woke up Sunday morning in fifth place in the Big 12 South. At 4-4, they need to win two of their last four to go to some low-level bowl. They have lost three consecutive times at home for the first time since 1988. How bad is it? Cliff Lee may be looking at yet another home pitching address. Frankly, whatever the Rangers do, it might not make a difference. By all appearances, Lee wants to be a Yankee. He'd like to team with his friend, CC Sabathia. He could play for an organization that doesn't rebuild, it annexes someone else's. He didn't even hold it against the Yankees when his wife was spat upon by Yankees fans. Either he's determined to keep an open mind or chivalry is dead. And then there's this: A late-bloomer, Lee loves the big stage. It's the main reason he's been so effective in the postseason. As anyone in New York will tell you, there's no bigger stage.
