Will Cards make play for McNabb?
The Cardinals may be interested in putting some heat on Max Hall and Derek Anderson this offseason. Without a sure thing at quarterback, the Cardinals not only risk losing star receiver Larry Fitzgerald to free agency in a couple years, they risk losing a large chunk of the fan base they have built since building a stadium and hiring Whisenhunt. And that's why they need to put their efforts into signing Donovan McNabb. His contract with the Washington Redskins expires after this season, and considering the problems he's having with coach Mike Shanahan, there's no reason to think he would agree to a multiyear deal to stay there. The Yankees called the agent for pitcher Cliff Lee shortly after free agency began at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, telling the agent that signing Lee was one of their top priorities this off-season, an official in baseball briefed on the matter said. The conversation was considered the team's first step in trying to sign Lee, a 32-year-old left-hander, and the Yankees did not make a formal offer, the official said. (The New York Times)Comment

With a chance to go two games above .500, New York fell back to even Sunday. After the Knicks had taken a 92-90 lead on [Amar'e] Stoudemire's three-point play, they missed 12 of their final 13 shots and were outscored 16-4 over the last 6:46. On a day when none of his supporting cast brought his 'A' game, this was the time for Stoudemire to carry the Knicks to a win. He hadn't done it before Sunday and still hasn't played that signature game that will cause reverberations out in Phoenix. Sunday, he produced only seven points in the fourth quarter and now the Knicks are back at .500. (New York Daily News)Comment
