Jimmy is off preparing for the season debut of his favorite show, Men of a Certain Age, and asked me to fill in. While there are plenty of sports items to discuss, I'd first like to congratulate Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who threw himself into the MVP race with a thrilling win yesterday over Tampa Bay and announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Sarah Marshall. No, it's not Kristen Bell, who played the title role in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but any chance to link to these photos of the actress is one I can't pass up.

No matter how bad your day is, at least you don't have Ben Roethlisberger's nose ... Packers receiver Donald Driver made an incredible touchdown catch as the Packers (and their awesome throwback jerseys) beat up on the Niners... Seahawks all-purpose back Leon Washington should feel pretty foolish after his premature touchdown celebration ... Bengals defensive tackle Pat Sims made the week's dumbest play, which may have cost his team a victory.

NFL Wrap-Up

The annual USC-UCLA game was overshadowed by a huge pregame brawl ... Nicki Boon, a junior at North Central University in Minneapolis, won $123,000 in scholarship money with this incredible performance at halftime of the SEC title game ... The Cincinnati Bearcats mascot was arrested for throwing snowballs and pushing security guards (the video is tremendous).
