Chargers moving to L.A. for 2012?
If the planets are to align for football in Los Angeles, they may do so in a hurry. If Tim Leiweke does his job over the next year in laying the groundwork for a downtown events center, expect the Chargers to announce shortly after Feb. 1, 2012, they will be here to start the 2012 season, probably playing in the Coliseum. Talk to anyone who has spent time with Chargers owner Dean Spanos -- and Spanos already has a pretty good idea of the endgame. Ordinarily, that's a loss in the playoffs, but now it's all about moving to L.A. (Los Angeles Times)Comment
It has been seven seasons since Samuel Dalembert was coming off the bench. That's the new role for Dalembert and Carl Landry as part of the Kings' recent shakeup of the starting lineup. Landry was a Sixth Man of the Year candidate before being traded by Houston to the Kings last season. Dalembert came off the bench his first five games with the Kings this season while recovering from a strained leg muscle. Landry started the first 14 games of the season. He has 43 career starts (42 with the Kings) in 210 career games. Dalembert has started 503 of his 600 career games. Landry said he was only starting to get comfortable being a starter. Yankees getting desperate for Lee?
Cliff Lee is now almost a lock for a six-year deal, though one late report suggest seven years may also be in play. Common sense tells you that the Yankees, who appear increasingly desperate to sign the lefthander, will be the team to step up to six. In doing so, they'll ensure that Lee turns away the Rangers, for whom he enjoyed playing so much. And baseball wisdom tells you that the Yankees, by doing so, again would be sacrificing long-term viability for the sake of a short-term gain. It's a practice they've exhibited too often, even since Brian Cashman took full control of the baseball operations after the 2005 season. (Newsday)Comment
