Vick played on one leg vs. Vikings
Michael Vick pronounced himself ready to go against the Packers but admitted he was in far worse shape against the Pack's traditional rivals. Vick suffered a right quad strain on the first play of the Eagles' ungainly 24-14 loss to the Vikings on Dec. 28, and although we knew by his uncharacteristically uneven play that the injury affected him the rest of the game, he conceded Wednesday that it was worse than he initially let on. "I tried to go out and get it done on one leg," Vick said. "But I just couldn't." Vick threw for 263 yards against the Vikings, but because his leg injury restricted his movement so dramatically, he was sacked six times and fumbled twice. (CSNPhilly.com)Comment
Did Saban spill beans on Ingram's plans?
High school junior running back Barry J. Sanders hasn't made up his mind on where he might like to take his talents for college, but Nick Saban let him know there's interest at Alabama. Saban and Crimson Tide recruiting coordinator Curt Cignetti visited Heritage Hall in Oklahoma City on Wednesday. They wanted to reassure Sanders that the Tide are extremely interested. "It was cool of him to do that," Sanders said. "He seemed nice, and he just said it would be great to have me." ... Sanders told The Oklahoman that Saban told him that he believes 'Bama running back Mark Ingram is going to forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL Draft. Saban said Ingram, who won the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore, will make his decision Friday. (The Oklahoman)Comment
Griffin has dunks up his sleeve
As Vinny Del Negro stumps for his rookie to bring his shooting star to the All-Star Game, Blake Griffin will, at the very least, be at the event to participate in the Dunk Contest. [Griffin] says in his kind of understated way that he has been thinking about this and may have a few ideas. "I think I'm just gonna try and get up as high as possible and throw it down as hard as possible. You know, put a little show in there, put a little pizazz and see what we can come out with. ...
