Plaxico rips Coughlin, Manning and fans
Plaxico Burress may finally have fully burned the bridge between himself and the Giants. [Burress] fires shots at more than himself in an explosive interview to be published next week. The Jets wide receiver blasts Giants coach Tom Coughlin and quarterback Eli Manning as well as the team's management, fans who celebrated his incarceration and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in the October issue of Men's Journal, which hits newsstands on Sept. 16. Burress' biggest target is Coughlin, the coach he butted heads with for four years with the Giants. When Burress shot himself accidentally in the leg in November 2008, he said Coughlin showed no concern. (New York Post)Comment
Astros on way to American League?
Houston may find itself in a bit of a pickle as it attempts to resolve its ownership situation. If the Astros are forced to move to the American League, they shouldn't go quietly -- or cheaply. Since a move to the junior league could cost the Astros major dollars, they should hold out for, well, big bucks, or at least a big return. Some believe that Jim Crane doesn't have much wiggle room since the other 29 owners could essentially decide his fate even before approving him as the owner of the Houston Astros. But if lame duck owner Drayton McLane has any stroke, he should be championing the Astros 50-year-old status in the National League or serving the list of demands on MLB Commissioner Bud Selig. Kobe leads with weak first tweet
Kobe Bryant has been around the league a long time, but his entry into the the world of microblogging was a quick on -- for now, anyway. For a short time Wednesday night, [Bryant] was a presence on Twitter. His account even offered up an inaugural Tweet: "Can you hear me now?!?!" A pretty weak inaugural Tweet. The account was shut down after that, but it is expected to resume communication at some time in the future. Whether Bryant can bring enough individual effort and personality to Twitter remains to be seen. To compete with the likes of Twitter mainstays Justin Bieber or Shaquille O'Neal, Bryant will have to offer a lot more flair and originality than "Can you hear me now?" within 140 characters.
