Japanese swimmer Kosuke Kitajima qualifies for second Olympic event

TOKYO (AP) -- Kosuke Kitajima won the men's 200-meter breaststroke at Japan's swimming championships on Friday to qualify for his second event at the London Olympics.

Kitajima, who captured gold in the 100- and 200 breaststroke at Athens and Beijing, clocked 2 minutes, 8.00 seconds in the final. The 29-year-old Kitajima qualified for his fourth Olympics on Tuesday by winning the 100 breaststroke.

Ryo Tateishi also qualified for the 200 breaststroke in London by finishing second in 2:08.17.

Kitajima also competed in breaststroke at the Sydney Olympics.

Elsewhere, Takeshi Matsuda added the 200 butterfly title to the 200 free he won on Wednesday, qualifying for a second race at London.
