1. Pekka Rinne, Predators. To paraphrase the late, lamented Quint, here's to your legs, Pekka. Respecting his glove hand, the Wings chose to test Nashville's netminder down low but found little purchase, falling 3-1 despite 40 shots. Rinne's timing and angles were impeccable, but it was his courage under close-in fire that kept the Preds afloat while Detroit dominated the first 40 minutes. Rinne and Co. can eliminate the Red Wings on Friday.
2. Scott Clemmensen, Panthers. So much for a leisurely night of opening the gate and cheering on the boys. Just 6:16 into the first, Clemmensen had to doff the ball cap, slip on his mask and try to staunch the bleeding as the Devils roared to a 3-0 lead. He did that and more, providing 19 momentum-swinging saves as the Panthers clawed out a 4-3 win for a 2-1 lead.
3. Mikkel Boedker, Phoenix Coyotes. Proof positive that it's never a bad idea to put the puck on net in overtime: Boedker's sharp-angle shot that somehow slipped past Corey Crawford to seal Phoenix's controversial 3-2 win in Chicago. Boedker also set up Rostislav Klesla's third-period goal and delivered another solid defensive effort highlighted by a pair of takeaways.
