In the wake of a disappointing end to the Reds' season, Walt Jocketty was almost immediately asked about the future. The first order of business is Reds manager Dusty Baker's status. His contract is up. ... Jocketty said he expects Baker to be back, along with all of the coaches whose contracts are up as well. "It was a very good season," Jocketty said. Baker, with the sting of the NL Division Series, was vague on his future. "I'm not sure where my career is going here in Cincinnati," he said. "We're going to talk about that in the next couple of days. But I'm not through managing. I have more to do." Does he expect to be back? "I don't know, man," he said. Aaron Rodgers may have admitted recently he wasn't at the top of his game, but Ben McAdoo doesn't see what all the fuss is about. "There's no negativity or anything like that," the Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach said. "The guy was over a 100 (passer) rating last week, wasn't he? There are a lot of teams out there that would kill for that. I think our best days are ahead of us on offense." While affirming that Rodgers' play isn't as bad as some may think, McAdoo said Thursday that the Packers quarterback can return to his elite standard. Holtz under fire at South Florida
It didn't take a long message to cast great doubt on Skip Holtz' job status.The one-line email was fired off at 3:26 p.m. Saturday, within a minute of the end of USF's humbling 37-28 loss at Temple, and it was sent to the chief of staff of USF president Judy Genshaft. "Disgusting and unacceptable," it read. "We have major problems with our football program." By Monday morning, that email was forwarded to athletic director Doug Woolard, with another one-line note: "Hope things are better. Make sure you have conversation with the Board Chair. Thanks." ... [The] sender was notable: John Ramil, a USF graduate, the president and CEO of TECO Energy, and more important, a powerful man on campus as the chairman of USF's board of trustees."
