Time running short for Eagles' Reid
At the end of the day, it's not so much Andy Reid's underwhelming press conference appearances after Philadelphia losses. Reid's real problem will be his lack of answers on the field, not at the podium. ... After Sunday's mind-searing loss against the Detroit Lions, the team is 3-3. That's 37.5 percent of the season gone and the Eagles are .500 -- the benchmark Lurie said would mean the end of the Reid Epoch. So Reid has a bye week, then 10 games to prove that his 11-11 record over the past two seasons is a mirage of some kind. Ten games to prove the steady regression since 2008 is just a fluke. Yanks won't commit to keeping A-Rod
Before the Yankees slipped to 0-2 against the Tigers on Sunday evening, team president Randy Levine, in addition to holding out hope for a turnaround that may not come, also asked that fans not focus on Alex Rodriguez's contract. Levine seemed almost resigned to just having to deal with that contract and its value while Rodriguez is a Yankee. He wasn't surprised by Rodriguez's benching. "For all our fan base: Let's root for Alex, the contract is what it is." ... Levine did not commit to Rodriguez for the duration of the deal, although he didn't specifically give a definitive answer as to if he thinks the Yankees will finish the deal in pinstripes or eventually will get traded. While Doug Collins drew headlines for calling out his players for their conditioning over the weekend, most Sixers fans are even more interested in the health of someone who didn't suit up: Andrew Bynum. On Sunday, after about a 90-minute workout at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Collins gave an update on Bynum. "He said he's feeling better," Collins said. "I think he's set for another injection. Eventually they are going to pick up him running on the treadmill and that will be a huge step." ... The injection of which Collins spoke, according to a source, was planned as part of Bynum's ongoing treatment from the Orthokine therapy he received in Germany last month.
