Griffin return much closer to a year?
No doubt, Adrian Peterson's name is bound to come up when the optimists are talking about Robert Griffin III's rehab. The quarterback's recovery will be one of the sport's top offseason story lines. When will he make it back on the field? And will he be the same? James Andrews, the orthopedist who operated on Griffin on Wednesday, said in a statement that it was hoped Griffin would be ready for the 2013 season. Some medical experts, however, said recovery could take as long as eight to 12 months. "I would guess he'll be back in November," one former NFL executive said. "I knew they'd try to say he'd be back by the [start of next] season. But I don't see it happening." (The Washington Post)Comment
On back-to-back nights, everything seemed OK for the Sixers until the third quarter -- that's when the Nets, on Tuesday, scored 18 of the first 20 points in a 20-point loss. Wednesday night in Toronto, the Sixers and Raptors were tied midway through the third. That's when Toronto put together a 22-12 run to end the quarter. ... If there is an answer, or even the smallest of hints, as to how to end this skid the team is currently enduring, coach Doug Collins can't seem to figure it out. He has changed his rotation, as Nick Young played just 4 minutes up to the midway point of the fourth quarter on Wednesday and Damien Wilkins was getting significant time. Williams: Tar Heels are fragile
A 61-52 loss to Virginia still fresh in the minds of fans, Roy Williams promised earlier this week he wouldn't panic. UNC is seeking to avoid an 0-2 start in ACC play and hoping to avoid a loss that would further erode the confidence of a team that hasn't yet built much of it. The Tar Heels most recently lost their first two conference games during the 2008-09 season, but they went on to win a national championship. Nobody, though, would mistake this UNC team, reliant on the unproven and inexperienced, with that one -- which was led by the likes of Tyler Hansbrough and Ty Lawson.
