What's next for former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith? [If Smith] fails to land a head-coaching job elsewhere, he's prepared to sit out the 2013 season because he's not interested in any of the coordinator jobs, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Smith interviewed for head-coaching jobs in Philadelphia, San Diego and Buffalo, but each of those teams selected other candidates. The only other two coaching vacancies are in Arizona and Jacksonville. An NFL source recently said that Smith's name hadn't come up during any discussions for the opening with the Jaguars. Fired by the Bears on Dec. 31 after a 10-6 season, Smith was set to receive a reported salary of $5 million in 2013, which will be paid to him if he sits out the upcoming season. Kobe tweaks LeBron in advance of showdown
When LeBron James took his talents to South Beach, King James and Miami took enough Heat that it became almost sport in and of itself. [James] recently said the Los Angeles Lakers haven't had to go through the same level of scrutiny he and the Heat did two seasons ago. On Wednesday, Kobe Bryant responded as only he can. "What does it matter?" Bryant said. "What does he want, a cookie for that?" The Lakers will play the Heat on Thursday with both teams looking for a win rather than bragging rights about dealing with expectations and adversity. In 2010-2011 when James joined forces with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, the Heat started the season 9-8 before finishing 58-24 and losing to the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals. Ex-Gators QB Brissett enrolling this week at...
Jacoby Brissett is taking his talents to Raleigh. [Brissett] will reboot his college career at North Carolina State, a source said. Brissett, who played quarterback for Florida the past two seasons after starring at Dwyer High School, intends to transfer to N.C. State and enroll this week. That would allow him to go through spring football with the Wolfpack. He must sit out next season and will be eligible as a redshirt junior in 2014. When Brissett decided to leave the Gators, he had a list of nine schools and narrowed it to N.C. State and West Virginia. After talking with both schools this week, he opted for the Wolfpack. Brissett was unavailable late Wednesday, and a spokesperson for N.C. State was unable to comment. (The Palm Beach Post)Comment
