It appears that Jayson Werth, who has not played in a major league game since May 2, won't be returning very soon, either. After getting what Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson called "kind of an alarming report" on [Werth] following another MRI on his strained right hamstring, it appears the right fielder's return will be delayed even further than the start of the team's upcoming homestand. "Our doctors say that he's going to be a while longer," Johnson said Monday afternoon at AT&T Park. "I think he was rushing it. And hearing from Jayson, he felt like it was a slight strain he could play through. He's starting to realize that your hamstring is going to take a little more time." (The Washington Times)Comment
Howard aired D'Antoni grievances with Lakers
Dwight Howard hasn't talked much publicly lately, but he has apparently said plenty to the Lakers. [Howard] made his feelings about Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni known before starting his offseason. ... [Howard was one of several Lakers] to have an extended separate meeting with the GM after his exit interview with both Kupchak and D'Antoni, multiple sources confirmed to ESPNLosAngeles.com. According to sources with knowledge of the situation, part of the discussion between Howard and Kupchak centered around Howard's frustration with D'Antoni -- particularly how the center felt marginalized as the coach looked to Bryant and Steve Nash for leadership and suggestions and discounted Howard's voice. Williams denies having suicidal thoughts
Mario Williams had his chance to talk Monday, and he let out a sigh when he stepped to the lectern in Buffalo. [He] then answered every question asked about an unbecoming feud with his ex-fiancee. Williams didn't deny he sent texts her lawyer made public Friday, but insisted he never has had suicidal thoughts and takes only medications prescribed by and dispensed by the Buffalo Bills. "It's blown out of proportion," Williams said. "It's completely out of context." Erin Marzouki's attorney, Tony Buzbee, released a series of texts allegedly from Williams to Marzouki. In the texts, Williams told her he was taking narcotics without anyone's knowledge and suggested he was having suicidal thoughts. (The Buffalo News)Comment
