CC admits hart truth for Yankees
It may very well be time to sound the alarm for CC Sabathia. For nearly two months, we've heard from the Yankees how Sabathia's velocity would begin to come back once the weather warmed up. Well, it was a perfect 72 degrees inside Tropicana Field on Sunday and the ace was knocked around for seven runs over seven innings in his worst outing of the season as the Rays beat the Yankees, 8-3, to salvage the final game of the weekend. "I'm hurting the team," a frustrated Sabathia said. "I'm not helping the team out. I just need to get better." This marked only the third time since joining the Yankees that Sabathia has given up seven earned runs, the first since Aug. 6, 2011. Golson leaves ND shell-shocked
It's not as if the Irish haven't seen more than their share of drama lately. [But Everett Golson's] evacuation from the hallowed halls of Notre Dame will be the one that hurts the most and figures to cause the most distress. Seems like the celebration after the win at Southern Cal was a decade ago. A spanking in South Beach, NFL flirtations, a fictitious girlfriend, mysterious and seemingly rash bailouts, and now the Golson situation have shell-shocked a program that was on top of the world. ... Seems like an awful lot of negativity is swirling around the Notre Dame football program these days. Wouldn't figure it to be a normal by-product of sudden success. Suh not cut out for leadership?
With Kyle Vanden Bosch and Corey Williams gone, the Lions' defense, particularly its line, could use some leaders, and both GM Martin Mayhew and Jim Schwartz have intimated they hope Ndamukong Suh can take on that responsibility. "That's something he's embraced," Schwartz said Wednesday. ... I would caution against expecting Suh to be a leader like Vanden Bosch or Williams. I would caution against trying to force Suh into being something he's not. He's not going to be that rah-rah type guy. He's not going to preside over a team meeting. He's not going to be the guy who invites his teammates over to his place for a cookout. That stuff is not in his DNA. He is aloof by nature. He has admitted this. (The Detroit News)Comment
