Could Alex Rios land with the Yankees?
Even manager Robin Ventura couldn't hide some disappointment headed into the break, a point at which the White Sox stood at 37-55. "The record speaks for itself," [Ventura] said. "Nobody is happy, and you can go home and clear your mind and get ready to go." The roster could look different soon, especially with the July 31 trade deadline approaching and the Sox producing six losing streaks of four games or more, including an eight-game skid after they reached the .500 mark on May 26. ... The offense could become further challenged if the Sox deal right fielder Alex Rios, who is among the team leaders with 11 home runs and 40 RBIs. Steelers will talk to Pouncey about hat
Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez isn't without his supporters. Photographs of Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey and Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey wearing ballcaps that say "Free Hernandez" began circulating on the Internet on Sunday. The photos, seen in multiple angles, do not appear to be digitally altered. ... The Steelers are not commenting on the photos, but according to a source they plan to talk to Maurkice Pouncey about the photos. A source close to Mike Pouncey expects the Dolphins to have a similar talk with the team's starting center. Hernandez is charged with the execution-style murder of 27-year-old semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd and is being held without bail. (ESPN.com)Comment
Rondo vows never to play for the Heat
And then there was one: Rajon Rondo. With Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce now off to the Brooklyn Nets, the point guard has watched all of his key teammates from the 2007-08 NBA champion Boston Celtics leave town. But if Rondo is the next to go (as it has been rumored), it won't be to the Miami Heat. Or at least so he says. Speaking at his own basketball camp in Kentucky, Rondo was caught on tape vowing that he will never play with LeBron James and Co. ... Rondo has let it be well known in the past that he isn't the biggest fan of the Heat. His former teammate Ray Allen took a lot of heat from the Celtics for moving on to Miami in free agency.
