Significant changes headed Dolphins' way
A shakeup will come, and likely uncomfortably, in Miami. [Dolphins owner Stephen Ross] fully expects to make "significant" changes within the organization following the NFL investigation and season, according to a source. But ... Ross has made no final decision on the future of coach Joe Philbin or general manager Jeff Ireland, the source said. Furthermore, the source said, if Ross is pressured to dismiss one or the other, barring incriminating details in the NFL report that forces his hand otherwise, Ross is more likely to keep Philbin than Ireland. Ross, I am told, is fond of and respects the job both Philbin and Ireland have been doing. Philbin is the owner's first signature hire since taking full control of the Dolphins in 2009. Knicks ready to scapegoat Woodson, chase Love
For now, there remains hope. [Chasing] the championship parade that never marches, the New York Knicks' recruitment to retain Carmelo Anthony comes with the promise to pursue Kevin Love into the franchise's 2015 salary-cap space. LeBron James comes free too soon (2014), Kevin Durant too late (2016), and the best, biggest star available to New York has been validating management's wanderlust with an MVP-esque start to the Minnesota Timberwolves' season. ... The plan had been a three-year window to chase a championship, but it turned into one season -- if it was ever that a year ago. New York is pushing toward a fresh scapegoat, coach Mike Woodson, but the Knicks are a combustible blend whose struggles have far less to do with their coaching and far more to do with lousy ownership. Departures could gut USC's talent
Ed Orgeron knows where his recruiting trail will take him: wide receiver, tight ends, linemen, linebackers and several defensive backs. "They're the No. 1 recruits on our board," Orgeron said. Orgeron is not discussing high school or junior college prospects. He is talking about USC's draft-eligible juniors and third-year sophomores. ... Receiver Marqise Lee, tight ends Xavier Grimble and Randall Telfer, quarterbacks Cody Kessler and Max Wittek, tailbacks Tre Madden and Javorius Allen, offensive linemen Marcus Martin and Aundrey Walker, defensive linemen George Uko and J.R.
