Deng signs off on Cavs chasing LeBron
On the one hand, Luol Deng is open to discussing an extension with Cleveland. [But] he also understands why the Cavs might want to put off those talks to first focus on trying to sign another All-Star small forward. LeBron James. "He's a great player, why wouldn't you look at him?" Deng told Yahoo Sports. "If he wants to come back home, that's great for him and great for this organization. He's a great player. Why not? I'm all right with that." ... The Cavaliers acquired Deng in a trade from the Chicago Bulls on Jan. 7 for center Andrew Bynum, who was waived, and three draft picks. The Bulls' surprising move came after the two-time All-Star turned down a three-year, $30 million contract extension. Browns' Farmer impresses Dolphins in GM interview
This phase not yet complete, it does, however, come with a high note. When the Dolphins finally finish their first round of interviews for their vacant general manager job -- and there are still multiple interviews to go -- the club expects to pare down to two finalists and meet with both again for another round of interviews. Expect Cleveland Browns assistant general manager Ray Farmer to be one of those finalists, barring a major surprise. It seems Farmer, who interviewed on Saturday, has so far been "the most impressive" of the interviews the team has conducted, according to sources familiar with the process. The Dolphins have interviewed Famer, in-house candidate Brian Gaine, Arizona's Jason Licht, Pittsburgh's Omar Khan, and Tennessee's Lake Dawson on Sunday. (Miami Herald)Comment
Over the past few years, Alex Rodriguez has run afoul of Major League Baseball's ideals, of course. But say this -- A-Rod, even in one of his patented delusional rants, correctly identified Saturday the formation of a major storm cloud and identified it in the statement he released after arbitrator Fredric Horowitz suspended him for 162 games and the entire postseason. Baseball, by the end of its current collective-bargaining agreement in 2016, will have enjoyed labor peace for 21 consecutive years. The next round of negotiations, however, already is shaping up to be quite contentious, though not for the self-serving reasons Rodriguez described. ...
