Athletes react to Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage

The United States Supreme Court ruled Friday that the Constitution gives same-sex couples the right to marriage, drawing reaction from a host of athletes.
The landmark decision effectively legalizes same-sex marriage in all 50 states. The Court's 2013 decision ruling the crux of the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional and subsequent decisions from lower courts laid the groundwork for Friday's ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges.
In response to the decision, a number of athletes and teams tweeted their support for marriage equality. Athletes offering their support for the Supreme Court's decision included L.A. Galaxy winger Robbie Rogers and former NBA player Jason Collins, two of the first openly gay professional athletes in the U.S.
What a day to celebrate! Today also happens to be my parents' 39th wedding anniversary! Congrats to all who celebrate #love. #LoveWins

Resist the urge to engage in debate with those in opposition to equality. There is no more debate. Just rejoice and celebrate this moment.
