Video: Greg Monroe levels Cody Zeller with 'Block of the Year' candidate

Pistons forward Greg Monroe leveled Bobcats forward Cody Zeller with a blocked shot during Charlotte's 108-96 road win on Tuesday.

It's not often you see a player "pancaked" in the NBA, but Monroe's swat, which was ruled a jump ball by the officials, sent the 2013 No. 3 pick straight to the court.

With less than a minute remaining in the third quarter and Charlotte leading 79-65, a double-teamed Al Jefferson reluctantly passed the ball to Zeller, who was cutting along the baseline. Monroe came across the paint, blocking the shot with his left hand with such force that Zeller's body immediately went from vertical to horizontal, with his arms slamming to the court. No foul was called on the play, which was nice work by the officiating crew given the force of the impact.

Here's an animated look at the vicious replay.

The swat didn't stop the Bobcats from pulling off the big road win. Jefferson led the way with a game-high 32 points (on 15-for-28 shooting), 12 rebounds and seven assists and Zeller added one point (on 0-for-3 shooting), four rebounds and one assist in 15 minutes.

Brandon Jennings scored a team-high 24 points (on 7-for-18 shooting) and added seven assists for the Pistons. Monroe added 18 points (on 8-for-16 shooting) and 10 rebounds in the loss.
