Heat center Hassan Whiteside is finally happy with his NBA 2K rating

Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside is finally happy his video game rating is reflective of his play.

Like any guy in his mid-20s, Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside is a big fan of the NBA 2K video game series. Unfortunately, playing as himself in the game couldn’t have been much fun in recent years, considering the people at 2K kept giving him lousy ratings.

In NBA 2K12, the first edition Whiteside was featured in, he was rated at 49 out of 100. Bouncing around the D-League, with stops at two Chinese clubs and two Lebanese teams, didn’t convince the game’s manufacturers that he was much better.

Whiteside started as a 59 in NBA 2K15, but that was before he blocked 12 shots in 24 minutes in a 96–84 win against the Bulls in January. After the game, Whiteside said he was “trying to get my NBA 2K rating up,” and was rewarded with a bump to 77 overall. 

On Saturday, Whiteside finally got what he wanted. At 81, he is one of just a few players with a rating more than 80.

There’s no way he’s completely satisfied with that, though.
