Anthony Davis Clears Critical Milestone in Bid to Return From Eye Surgery

Mavericks center Anthony Davis is coming off of a strange season that ended with him undergoing eye surgery in the offseason. However, the 10-time All-Star appears to be on the mend.

Davis played five-on-five this week for his first game-speed action since he underwent the surgery, according to a Saturday afternoon report from veteran NBA writer Marc Stein.

The 32-year-old averaged 24.7 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game a year ago. He played 42 games for the Lakers and nine games for Dallas after being traded on Feb. 2 for guard Luka Dončić, in what was immediately recognized among the wildest transactions in NBA history.

Davis, entering his 14th season, has five All-NBA appearances to his name along with a championship with Los Angeles in 2020.

The Mavericks are scheduled to open their season on Oct. 22 against the rival Spurs.
